A few words about us
Hardbody Outdoor Fitness (HOF) is an outdoor functional fitness training program. Through basic to advanced exercises performed in class, HOF prepares and gives your body the ability to handle daily life functions without pain. This training method is beneficial for athletes and non-athletes equally.

There are a variety of equipment used for functional training, which you may have seen at the gym. We use many of these tools indoors and outdoors, individually and with partners to aid in weight loss, conditioning and sport-specific training. When used appropriately (TRXs, jump ropes and kettlebells), place a lot of emphasis on balance, requiring the body to activate smaller stabilizer muscles not used in many other forms of exercise.

Who are the Hardbody Outdoor Fitness trainers?

Shawn "Chev"
Owner, Trainer

As the owner and lead trainer of Hardbody Outdoor Fitness, I am committed to encouraging the success of all clients. I'm very excited about fitness and helping others transform their lifestyles to improve the quality and longevity of life. I launched Hardbody Outdoor Fitness in 2009 with a few loyal clients, who continually support the program. I wanted to develop a program designed to challenge and encourage people, regardless of what level of fitness they start with. As a husband, parent and triathlete, there is a high demand to be at multiple places at once. So I wanted to find a way to unite all three kinds of people in a program with a different kind of feel. You hear the word "bootcamp" used often, and while we meet like a "bootcamp" early in the morning, there are no drills, no cadence songs, boots or yelling, but there is a family feel that is hard to explain. We have a team environment and while one person focuses on weight-loss, there is a teammate right next to them focusing on developing a stronger core for their endurance race. As trainers, we identify each of these people and provide exercises (advanced or less advanced), to maximize their experience.

Nicole "Nic"
Trainer

Most people I know call me "Nic" for short. Where do I begin about my love for fitness? I have always loved being active from the time I was 3 years old I started ballet and continued until I was 18. Gymnastics, softball, field hockey, lacrosse, instructing aerobics classes just to name a few. I met Shawn 2 and 1/2 years ago and began working out routinely again and really fell in love with high intensity interval training and I haven't looked back. I began training for Hardbody Outdoor Fitness in April of 2010 and I'm still going strong. I truly enjoy watching people transform and succeed in the fitness world whether it be losing weight and gaining muscle, training for a 5K all the way up to a full marathon, triathlons, or just because it makes them feel better and more confident about themselves. It makes a difference to me to make a positive impact on someone's life through fitness and this is why I love to train. As I like to say at the end of our group sessions "GO HARD"!
